About the event
The Last Forest depicts the daily life of the Yanomami people, their creation myths & shamanic culture that protects & maintains balance on the Earth. A beautiful & moving piece of art that goes on to tell of the fight these people have been in to protect their land & lives for decades against illegal mining & the advancement of the colonist empire nto their territories.
Davi Kopenawa is centred in the movie, a tribal man who has given his life to protect his people...he travels to make the Yanomami voice heard in government & on the world stage. A moving reminder of the reality that genocide is being commited against many peoples in these times.Â
The intention of the evening is to raise awareness of indigenous life & make a prayer for change through our own awareness & action. 50% of all profits will be donated to Survival Interntional who have played a huge role in helping the Yanomami fight for their rights in Brazil.Â
The evening will conclude with songs & prayers for the Earth & her people inspired by my own connection with the land of the Amazon rainforest.Â
